Challenging Choices of Influencer Culture

WitzEnd Productions and PhilmCo in association with ASPIRE present 1660 Vine – A New Musical

An original musical, that looks into the journey of life as a social media influencer: creating, curating and continuing an artificial online identity that pleases sponsors, brands and tens of millions of followers, all the while aware of the widening space between one's true self and one's online self. The film is an ensemble story of makeup tutorialists, stunt artists, models, pranksters, gamers, vloggers, and musicians who, though each on their own path, have found community in the luxury Hollywood apartment building they (temporarily) call home: 1660 Vine Street. 1660 Vine is a tale torn from today's headlines, created by a diverse team of 20-somethings who have brought their own authentic life experiences into the book-writing and songwriting processes. The film is directed by Patricia McGregor – Artistic Director of the New York Theater Workshop, choreographed by superstar entertainer Paula Abdul, with music supervision from the team that oversaw the “High School Musical” franchise, and a cast that has over 38 million followers and 4 billion views. The film and any stage production will be accompanied by a powerful awareness and activation campaign, as our team works with experts and non-profits, as well as brands and influencers in the field of mental health of young people, focused on their relationship with social media. With distribution of the film in early November, with a December stage premiere at Hollywood High School, and with plans to license the show for stock/amateur stage productions soon thereafter, 1660 Vine is primed for a buzzy landing into a social media friendly landscape, moving audiences of all generations with authentic and important stories about the social media generation… all to the beat of a joyful, passionate soundtrack of original songs
